At Kia Country of Hilton Head, we want to help you maintain your car’s heating and cooling system in optimal condition. This system is essential for your vehicle’s performance and safety, as it:

– Prevents your engine from overheating in hot weather
– Protects your engine from freezing in cold weather
– Uses coolant to avoid damage to your engine components

Most of the energy from standard gasoline combustion engines is converted into heat, which needs to be dissipated by the cooling system. The cooling system consists of a radiator and a reservoir that contains a 50/50 mix of coolant and water that circulates through the engine. Over time, the coolant becomes acidic and causes rust and corrosion in the radiator. This can also lead to clogging and serious problems such as a blown head gasket or other major repairs.

We offer two types of coolant services:

– Partial replacement: we drain half of the fluid and refill it with new coolant
– Complete fluid exchange: we pull out all the coolant from the radiator, the engine block and the
heating system, where it can also accumulate, and replace it with fresh coolant (recommended)

We advise you to have a regular coolant system check-up and fluid replacement every 45-60K miles.
